Sue Thomas, who I was fortunate to portray in the TV series “Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye,” will be speaking on May 8 at 7pm at Moorpark Presbyterian Church, 13950 Peach Hill Road, Moorpark, CA, north of Los Angeles. The community is invited to attend and the event is free; a donation will be accepted. Sue will speak her story; an ASL interpreter will interpret for the Deaf/deaf/HOH.
Sue Thomas is an amazing woman with an amazing story. Profoundly deaf from the age of 18 months, she overcame significant obstacles, learning to read lips so well that the FBI put her in surveillance! She also had one of the first ‘hearing’ dogs. These experiences led to a TV series inspired by her life, “Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye."
Now living with Multiple Sclerosis, Sue travels the world with her service dog Katie, inspiring thousands as they laugh, cry and are challenged by her message of hope.
A simple reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

If you’re on Facebook, you can also get more information and rsvp here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#/event.php?eid=65348113385
If you are not in the Los Angeles area but know people who are in the area, spread the word about the Real Sue Thomas visiting. I highly recommend people go. She will naturally reach out to your heart.

Animal Planet - Update
Written by Deanne Bray
Friday, 17 April 2009 22:41
"Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" is the first and only drama Animal Planet has had.
I'm sad to tell you that they have now decided that it is not a fit for their network- so they will not be running any more episodes.
While Animal Planet received more letters, emails and phone calls of support for "Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" than they have ever received for any show - thanks to all of you! - ultimately, the network felt the ratings weren't not what they wanted.
We greatly appreciate your amazing support - and keep checking in, we may soon have some good news to report soon!
Thank you all!

DeafTV Interview about the Sue Thomas FBEYE Series
“Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye” premiering Monday, April 6, with a two-hour opener (8:00 – 10:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ANIMAL PLANET, is inspired by the true story of Sue Thomas, who although profoundly deaf from the age of 18 months, overcame significant obstacles to work surveillance for the F.B.I., with the help of her loyal hearing dog, Levi. This 9:00 p.m. Monday night series is a coming-of-age, suspenseful drama starring Deanne Bray, a severely deaf actress who like Sue Thomas, was strongly encouraged by her parents to speak and read lips as well as sign. “Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye” is entertainment aimed not just at hearing audiences but at the more than 28 million deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States (10% of the population).
Troy will be giving a one man show on September 27, 2008.

I'm happy to announce that I'm one of the Women In Theatre's awardees. Women In Theatre is an organization that empowers professional performing artists in theatres through performance, education, and networking. I was inspired to learn that WIT awarded a scholarship to a graduating senior high school student, Bronwyn Reed, from Los Angeles High School last June who plans to continue her education in performing arts at Standford. As an educator, I love it when deserving students get recognition of their hard work and passion. Thanks to WIT for honoring young performers like Bronwyn. In October, WIT will have their 5th Annual Red Carpet Award event in recognizing several awardees.
The luncheon will take place on October 18, 2008 from 11 am to 2:30 pm at:

Meeting Marlee Matlin
Written by Deanne Bray Kotsur
Monday, 17 April 2006 00:00
I went to Vancouver BC to work on Showtime's program, "The L Word" with Marlee Matlin. The 2 episodes will air sometime in january or February. I had no idea what kind of actress Marlee was in terms of working on set with her and who she really was as a person. I was alittle nervous on my way to Vancouver BC not knowing what to expect. When Kyra and I arrived at the hotel, I received a welcome note from Marlee. We got together for lunch to talk about the scene we're in. Some actors don't take the time to do that because of their busy schedule. Well, let me tell you, Marlee is a very busy person with a loaded schedule and yet she found the time to get together and spend time with me and Kyra. During my stay in BC, I find Marlee a very supportive person in general! I ended up having a great time working with her on set as a professional actor staying in focus with my character. She was easy to work with.
