DeafHope

Hello friends!

I'm flying up to San Fransisco on January 29th along with amazing women;

Sheri Farinha (NorCal Deaf Center and Deaf politician/advocate)
Roz Rosen (CSUN NCOD and former President of NAD and administrator at Gallaudet University)
Karen Wilson (San Diego Deaf Mental Health Services and Asian Deaf Advocate)
Terrylene Sachhetti (Actress)
Sharon Dror (President of National Deaf Jewish Org)
Julie Rems-Smario (Founder and Executive Director of DeafHope)

We will have some creativity with artwork with an artist, Nora Scully. We will do something like what this website is doing... http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~nscully/itec745/final/ She will do a sculpture piece with all of us!

I'm exicted to visit DeafHope this weekend.

Dear Caring Community Members,

DeafHope is a nonprofit organization serving Deaf Survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence in the Northern California area. Our mission is to end domestic and sexual violence against Deaf women and children through empowerment, education and services.

We joyously announce our Seventh Annual Glimmer of Hope benefit, being held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 will be held at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley, California, this year. Theme is “Unlock the Treasures of your Heart” and the evening promises to be filled with love, peace, joy, harmony, and compassion. As always we will have delicious food, glorious entertainment with fabulous our emcees, Michelle Lapides, Miss Deaf California and Russell Harvard, up and coming Hollywood Deaf actor, as well as our live auction and silent raffle. . Our goal for 2010 is to raise $100,000 to support our direct services. We invite you to join us in this important and powerful cause by donating items for the Live Auction and Silent Raffle, such as artwork, arts and crafts, clothes, household items, cookware, donation of services, restaurant gift certificates, golf items, computer items, vacation and weekend getaway packages – anything that will attract a variety of people to bid!

As a nonprofit organization, all proceeds go directly to services we provide to the community at large. This opportunity will also allow you to show your business support of the organization and our endeavor in empowering Deaf women. All donated items are tax deductible. Please note our tax id number listed below. You can reach us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We thank you in advance for your support in making a positive difference in the lives of many Deaf women and children. Your contribution will make our community effort rewarding.

Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Julie Rems-Smario

Executive Director of DeafHope
